NewFinn uses only environmentally safe finishes and sustainable materials.
All stains and sealers are water-based. Since lumber naturally allows water to penetrate the material, research has shown that wood accepts water-based products deeper into its grains and without chemical enhancements.
When treating the inside of any features that are designed for plants, natural linseed and tung oils are used to not only to protect the wood but our plants and food, as well.
The finished product is beautiful, protected, and safe for our planet.
Wine barrel staves and metal hoops sourced from true naturally aged oak wine barrels from France are often used to accent and enhanced featured designs. Our lumber is locally sourced and milled from New Hampshire timbers. Many of the pieces are built with local Hemlock. Hemlock has similar characteristics as cedar but is 30% stronger and 50% less brittle. Oils in the wood naturally repel insects and assist in the longevity of the product. Northern Native Americans were known to use hemlock for their bows because of its strength, strain memory, durability, and longevity.
Our lumber is greenhouse dried which requires no fuels or electricity; just a little help from the sun and wind rather than the typical kiln drying that requires the use of fuels and electricity while emitting more emissions into our world.
NewFinn believes that with a little innovation and thoughtfulness, we can make a difference by using environmentally safe practices and products.
Each piece is handcrafted and unique to itself.
